Senior Learning Designer and Developer Job Opening in New York, New York
Affiliates Risk Management Services (ARMS) administers insurance, educational, and risk management services and tools to more than 700 ambulatory health centers located throughout the United States. ARMS operates the Center for Affiliated Learning (CAL), an online learning and performance center designed for medical and non-medical staff at these facilities. The training is provided through a variety of modalities including web-based learning including eLearning and webinars, face-to-face learning, simulation, and mobile learning. Certain learning activities have been accredited for continuing medical education (CME) credit. The CAL operates on a Saba learning management system.
The Senior Learning Designer and Developer will be responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and quality assurance of eLearning and mLearning courses, microlearning, instructor-led training, and performance support tools in support of the Center for Affiliated Learning.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and develop eLearning and mLearning courses, microlearning, instructor-led training, and performance support tools.
- Update existing eLearning and mLearning courses, instructor-led training, and performance support tools.
- Perform quality assurance checks on projects.
- Create, maintain, and follow design and development standards, policies, and procedures.
- Develop with other projects within ARMS, such as presentations, enewsletters, and graphics.
- Serve as a technical liaison between the development team and staff on other CAL teams, such as the platform team.
- Design and develop custom graphical elements to be used in courses, CAL materials, other technology, and within ARMS.
- Mentor developers and associate developers.
- Troubleshoot and fix course issues within Saba. Demonstrate advanced knowledge of Saba. Update UI in Saba.
- Create and maintain the development portfolio.
This position demands the ability to work projects through to completion with some oversight, guidance, and coaching from the Director of Learning. This position will contribute to success of the CAL by increasing the number of learning opportunities offered, keeping learning opportunities up-to-date, by being responsive to client needs/requests, and working closely with other CAL teams, such as platform and CME, to produce and deploy learning opportunities.
S/he should be able to identify problems, such as gaps in course offerings or in the development process. Depending upon the problem and its scope, s/he should be able to propose and execute a solution and/or bring it to the attention of the Learning Development Manager for further consideration.
Experience in designing, developing and quality assurance of eLearning and mLearning projects using Articulate products (required) and other tools such as Captivate, etc. Experience in performing quality assurance checks on projects. Able to successfully design and develop multiple projects at one time.
May be called on to incur expenses, and produce expense reports for reimbursement.
The candidate will work with staff in other departments, regional offices, or affiliate service centers and outside organizations to produce work that is on time and meets performance goals. The nature and extent of external contacts is determined by the project. The candidate must recognize the value of diversity and maintain relationships with staff and external audiences that respect individual dignity.
No current supervisory responsibility is required. Ability to successfully mentor developers and associate developers is required.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in related subject preferred. Masters preferred.
Minimum seven years of work experience developing eLearning and mLearning. Minimum five years working with Articulate, Storyline, or comparable tools. Minimum two years developing eLearning and mLearning in a professional healthcare organization is required.
Related Skills or Knowledge:
Excellent organizational skills with a focus on details are required. Position requires strong oral and written interpersonal and communication skills to support excellent customer service. Candidate must have excellent grammar, spelling, punctuation, and proofreading and editing abilities.
Expert knowledge of rapid eLearning development tools such as Articulate 360, Storyline, and Captivate, and graphics programs including Adobe Creative Suite. A strong understanding of adult learning theory and the ADDIE method is required.
The ability to write and edit content, instructional text, audio scripts, and video scripts and to design interactive and engaging learning opportunities. Full understanding of Kirkpatrick’s Level of Evaluations and ability to write meaningful and measurable L2 evaluations.
The ability to quickly and seamlessly change priority and direction as requested is required.
